According to the report, from January to March 2018, China's smartphone shipment was 81.87 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 27.0%.

The report shows that in terms of the overall situation of the mobile phone market, the overall domestic shipment continues to decline. In March 2018, the domestic mobile phone market shipped 30.185 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 27.9%; from January to March 2018, the domestic mobile phone market shipped 87.37 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 26.1%. Among them, domestic brands accounted for nearly 90% of mobile phone shipments. In March 2018, the shipment of domestic brand mobile phones was 26.995 million, a year-on-year decrease of 29.0%, accounting for 89.4% of the domestic mobile phone shipment in the same period; from January to March 2018, the shipment of domestic brand mobile phones was 75.864 million, a year-on-year decrease of 27.8%, accounting for 86.8% of the domestic mobile phone shipment in the same period.

As far as the development of smart phones is concerned, the proportion of smart phone shipment is stable at more than 90%. In March 2018, the shipment of smart phones was 28.083 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 28.6%, accounting for 93.0% of the domestic mobile phone shipment in the same period; from January to March 2018, the shipment of smart phones was 81.870 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 27.0%, accounting for 93.7% of the domestic mobile phone shipment in the same period.

In March 2018, 68 new models of smart phones were launched, a year-on-year decrease of 37.0%; from January to March 2018, 158 new models of smart phones were launched, a year-on-year decrease of 15.1%. In fact, the development of China's smart phones in the first quarter of this year continued the cold winter trend of 2017.

According to the data previously released by China information and Communication Research Institute, in December 2017, China's smartphone shipment volume was 40.361 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 33.2%; from January to December, China's smartphone shipment volume was 461 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 11.6%.

In the cold winter, the concentration of China's smart phone market is gradually increasing, the second and third tier brands are facing growth bottlenecks and even survival difficulties, and the competition between the first tier brands is more fierce. China's smart phone manufacturers have also begun to seek changes, such as looking for more subdivided markets such as game phones; continuing to sink to low tier cities to seek incremental growth; vigorously expanding overseas markets; increasing technology investment and product innovation to stimulate users' desire to change machines, etc.
