Gourd planting: cut a small mouth, easy to sprout

Gourd, homonym for "Fu Lu", is the mascot in folklore to ward off evil spirits and pray for good fortune and increase longevity. In recent years, the pot culture technology of Cucurbita pepo is becoming more and more perfect, and the cucurbit has gradually entered the field of pot culture, especially combination pot culture. Let's introduce the cultivation method of gourd.

The planting method of two small gourds on the vine: 1. Sowing

1. Before and after the sowing time is clear, cut a small hole on the tip of the seed with pliers or nail knife, which is easier to germinate. Pay attention not to damage the inside, only to damage the shell. Make it break naturally.

2. Soak the seeds in 30 ℃ water for 8 to 12 hours. First, wrap the seeds with coarse cloth like a wet towel at a temperature of 25-30 ℃. The seeds of Cucurbita pepo usually germinate in 7-10 days. When the buds grow to about 0.5-1 cm, they are transferred to the seedling bed.

3. Choose the soft soil, put the seeds horizontally and put them on 1cm soil. (friends or novices with conditions are better to use the seedling block. When using the seedling block, soak the seedling block first, and there is no water in the seedling box. Then poke a hole, put the germinated gourd seeds in, and then cover them). Place in the shade for half a day. Cover the newspaper in the sun to prevent the sun and rain. Keep the soil moist until the seeds germinate.

4. Pick up the sprouted seeds every day and put them in another pot in a cool indoor place to control the growth of buds. When the seedlings grow to 4-6 true leaves, they can be transplanted.

2、 Potted plants:

1. Choose basin, use soil: the size of flowerpot should be moderate. Before potting, we should select good fertile soil, use loose acid soil, mixed with soil and miscellaneous fertilizer, alkali soil and hardened soil are not available. The soil should be well ventilated and drainable. It is suggested that nursery soil should be mixed with general soil in the ratio of 1:5 or 2:5. Or use peat soil directly, the effect is better.

2. Planting: one plant in one pot is better, but it is better to plant two pots for pollination. Such as balcony planting, can also be planted in large pots 2.

3. Watering: potted gourd is very easy to dry. When the vine begins to spread, it should be watered once a day, and twice a day in hot summer.

4. Fertilization: after survival, fertilizer should be applied every 10 days or so, organic fertilizer can be applied, and compound fertilizer can be used in families. Nitrogen fertilizer should be mainly used in seedling stage, and phosphorus and potassium fertilizer should be used in flowering stage.

5. Erecting: when the seedlings grow tendrils, four 1 m-high bamboo poles are evenly inserted into the basin, and the top of the bamboo poles is fixed with a round bamboo rod slightly larger than the mouth of the basin, and the rope is wrapped in the middle of the bamboo pole frame to help the gourd's tendrils climb.

6. Harvest: the fruit will be harvested gradually in early August, and it can be harvested after lignification. You can gently pinch the peel with your fingernails. If the peel is hard and can't be pinched, it means it is mature. The small gourd used for ornamental use does not change color after harvest. It can be scraped off the outer peel with small bamboo slices, and then put it in the indoor ventilation place to dry after scraping evenly, so that the drying is faster. You can also carve "congratulations on fortune" and "auspicious luck" on the peel of the fruit when it is not ripe, or draw various pictures. When the fruit is ripe, you can enjoy it more distinctive. Precautions for planting gourd:

The main disease of Cucurbita pepo is powdery mildew, and the main pest is aphids

1. The ventilation and light transmission conditions should be improved as much as possible, reasonable fertilization should be applied, the amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer should be increased, and the nitrogen fertilizer should not be biased. Attention should be paid to cleaning and sanitation. The diseased plants and leaves should be cut off in time.

2. Try not to reuse basin soil. Basin soil had better be disinfected with high temperature, and the utensils should also be dried in the sun.

3. Spraying Bordeaux solution of 1 ∶ 1 ∶ 100 can prevent the occurrence and development of the disease. 50% Carbendazim and other antimicrobial agents can be sprayed at the early stage of the disease.
