Tulip seeds: seed selection, storage, planting

Tulip is an important bulbous flower in spring. At present, most tulips are planted with bulb (bulb), so it is difficult to find tulip seeds. The following is the introduction of tulip bulbs:

How to select pure tulip varieties? The diameter of seed bulb should be more than 8 cm, 6 cm would not bloom, and 6-8 cm was not guaranteed. According to the circumference, the seed bulbs can be divided into four grades

Grade I: above 12 cm (diameter: 3.8 cm),

Grade II: 11-12 cm (3.5-3.8 cm),

Grade III: 10-11cm (3.2-3.5cm),

Grade 4: less than 10 cm (less than 3.2 cm).

When selecting, the stems and leaves are green, the leaves are slightly powdered, there is no yellowing phenomenon, the pedicel is straight and straight, the petals are stiff, there is no blue petal pattern on the tip of the petals, the thicker the neck of the flower stem, the smaller the curvature of the receptacle is, the fresher it is. They have the habit of sleeping and exercising and the habit of low temperature petal dormitory. 2. How to preserve tulip bulbs? The dormant bulbs can be dug up in the first ten days of June, deslimed, stored in dry, ventilated and 20 ~ 22 ℃ temperature conditions, or stored in the refrigerator freezer. 3. How to plant tulip bulbs? (1) Box planting or high ridge planting. Growers must use standard tulip plastic box or Lily plastic box for cultivation, and those who do not have box cultivation must use high ridge cultivation.

(2) All of them are peat soil. In order to facilitate rooting, peat soil or a mixture of peat soil, perlite and vermiculite must be used completely (the mixing ratio is determined by the grower).

(3) Four days before planting, the grower must water the substrate used for tulip planting once. After watering, cover the whole greenhouse or plastic shed that will be used to plant tulip bulbs with straw curtain or cotton quilt, or two layers of shading net, while keeping the greenhouse or greenhouse and the outside world ventilated.

(4) After the bulbs arrived, the brown outer shell of tulip bulbs was removed, especially the outer shell around the root disc.

(5) After removing the outer shell, disinfect with thiophanate methyl or chlorothalonil according to the ratio of pesticide and water

Carry out the requirements on the bottle. Be careful not to exceed 10 minutes.

(6) The seed ball was buried vertically in the planting matrix, and the substrate just covered the seed ball. After planting, the seed ball was covered with 1-2cm coarse sand and the soil was lightly pressed.

(7) Water once after planting.

(8) The greenhouse where tulip bulbs are planted must be kept completely dark for 25 days after planting. This requires that, at least in the daytime, the growers should cover the greenhouse or greenhouse with straw curtains or quilts or double-layer shading nets, and at night the grass curtains can be pulled up or not. At the same time, ensure the greenhouse and the outside ventilation. During these 25 days, watering is not allowed unless the substrate is very dry and requires a small amount of local water supplement. During this period, the temperature of greenhouse must be controlled within the range of 8-15 ℃. During the rooting period, no heating is needed in the greenhouse or greenhouse.

(9) After 25 days, the grass curtain was pulled up or removed during the day, and the plants began to see light. At night, the grass curtain was put down to keep the greenhouse temperature. Temperature: keep the temperature above 15 ℃ during the day and night until flowering. At this stage, most parts of China have entered the cold winter, in order to ensure that the temperature reached, growers need to warm up, especially at night. If coal is used for heating, coal smoke or gas must not be allowed to enter the greenhouse. Otherwise, all tulips in the whole greenhouse may die.

Precautions for planting tulips (1) during the rooting period (within the first 25 days), the air temperature may still be too high or even higher than 20 ℃, especially in East China, Southwest China and central China. This will lead to poor rooting of plants, serious blind flower phenomenon in the later stage, or short growth of plants.

(2) After rooting, there are no heating facilities in many areas. The air temperature in the greenhouse may be lower than 15 ℃ or even lower than 10 ℃ at night. This situation will cause the plants to fail to bloom on time and the flowering period will be delayed.
