Cultivation methods of Clivia: different from soil culture and water culture

Clivia is native to southern Africa. It is not only afraid of heat and cold, but also likes the semi overcast and humid environment and strong direct sunlight. It is a famous beautiful flower suitable for indoor breeding. However, how to breed the Clivia? Now let's introduce the cultivation method of Clivia by Xiaobian. I hope it can help you.

How to appreciate the cultivation of Clivia

1、 Soil planting method

Soil requirements: the cultivation of Clivia should adopt loose and fertile neutral or weak acid humus soil, which can be mixed by humus soil 65%, clean sand 20% and fine ash 15%. The relative humidity of soil is about 40%;

Main points of basin loading: when loading soil and basin, attention should be paid to filling soil between roots, so that roots and soil are closely combined, which is conducive to timely absorption of nutrients by roots;

Watering requirements: water reasonably to prevent the basin soil from being too dry or too wet. Generally, water once in 3-5 days in winter, once in 1-2 days in spring and autumn, and increase water times in summer and flowering period. Do not water the leaves to prevent them from rotting. If dust is found on the leaves, you can use a soft cloth to gently wipe the surface of the leaves, or you can use a soft brush to brush, do not wash with a lot of water;

Fertilizer requirements: Clivia likes fertilizer, but too much fertilizer will cause rotten roots. In addition to the application of base fertilizer, the method of "thin fertilizer and more fertilizer" should be used for top dressing. Every 20 days or so, the fermented bean cake water, light fishy water and horseshoe water can be watered and applied together;

Lighting requirements: control the intensity of light. In the whole cultivation process, try not to let the plant be exposed to direct sunlight. It is OK to scatter sunlight for about four hours every day. Too strong sunlight will make the leaves narrow. Clivia should not be exposed to high temperature and hot sun in summer. Clivia should be placed in the environment with high air humidity and shade;

Temperature requirements: the optimal growth temperature of Clivia is 15 ℃ ~ 25 ℃, and the optimal flowering temperature is 15 ℃ ~ 20 ℃. Clivia is afraid of cold. In winter, it should be moved indoors and put in a place with sufficient light. It can survive safely at room temperature of about 5 ℃. If possible, it is best to keep the ambient temperature stable between 15 ℃ and 25 ℃.

2、 Hydroponics

Container selection: for the hydroponics of Clivia, the first thing is to choose a good container. Generally speaking, it is better to use transparent glass containers;

Nutrient solution: there are inorganic and organic nutrient solutions. The inorganic nutrient solution can be prepared in the following proportion: 1.5g calcium, 0.01g ferrous sulfate, 1g urea, 1g potassium dihydrogen phosphate and 0.5g magnesium sulfate. After the above five inorganic salts are combined, they can be dissolved in 1000g water for use. The organic nutrient solution is prepared as follows: stir fry 100g of cooked hemp seed noodles, 100g of bone meal (made of fresh bone without salt), 150g of bean cake powder, 50g of cooked sesame powder, and then dissolve in 1000g of water. The above two nutrient solutions can be used in combination. If it is used alone, the inorganic fertilizer is applied once a week, and the organic fertilizer is applied once every 5 days;

Requirements for water use: for hydroponics, tap water cannot be taken directly. Tap water should be put in a container and be exposed to the sun for 3-5 days, so as to precipitate chlorides such as bleaching powder harmful to the root of Clivia before use. In addition, we should pay more attention to the change of water quality. If we find that some roots are yellow or black, it means that the water is both lack of oxygen and less fertilizer, so we must change the water immediately;

Temperature and light: the same as soil planting method. Points for attention in cultivation of Clivia: 1. Turn the basin frequently to prevent the leaves from leaning to one side;

2. Attention should be paid to the flatness of the selected basin bottom and whether it is conducive to drainage; 3. Do not water within 5 days after soil replacement, the soil to be replaced should not be dry soil, and should maintain about 30% water; water once after 5 days, so that the flowers can be pumped.
