Tulip seeds: selection method, storage method, planting method

Tulip is an important bulbous flower in spring. At present, most tulip plants are planted with seed ball (bulbous). It is difficult to find tulip seeds. Now we will introduce the bulbs of tulips:

Tulip seed ball 1. How to choose pure tulip varieties? The diameter of seed ball is more than 8 cm, 6 cm will not bloom, 6-8 cm flowering is not guaranteed. According to the circumference, the seed ball can be divided into four levels:

The first level is more than 12 cm (diameter is more than 3.8 cm),

The second level is 11-12 cm (3.5-3.8 cm),

The third level is 10-11cm (3.2-3.5cm),

The fourth level is less than 10 cm (less than 3.2 cm).

When selecting, the stems and leaves are green, the leaves are slightly powdered, without yellowing, the pedicels are straight, the petals are stiff, and the tip of the petals is free of partial blue petal lines. The neck of the flower stem is relatively large, the smaller the curvature of the receptacle, the fresher it is. It has the habit of sleeping and moving and the habit of low temperature petal dormitory. 2. How to keep tulip bulbs? The dormant bulbs can be dug up in the first ten days of June, desliminated, and stored in dry, ventilated and 20 ~ 22 ℃ temperature conditions or in the refrigerator's cold storage room. 3. How to grow tulip bulbs? (1) Box planting or high border. The grower must use standard tulip plastic box or Lily plastic box for cultivation, and the grower without box type cultivation must use high border for cultivation.

(2) All with peat soil. In order to facilitate rooting, the planting substrate must be completely composed of peat soil or a mixture of peat soil, perlite and vermiculite (the mixture proportion is determined by the grower).

(3) Four days before planting, the grower must water the substrate used for tulip planting once. After watering, use straw curtain or quilt, or use 2-layer shading net to cover the whole greenhouse or plastic greenhouse that will be used for tulip seed ball planting, and keep the greenhouse or greenhouse ventilated with the outside world.

(4) When the seed ball arrives, remove the brown shell outside the tulip seed ball, especially the shell wrapped in the root disk.

(5) After removing the shell, disinfect it with thiophanate methyl or chlorothalonil according to the proportion of pesticide and water

The requirements on the bottle shall be implemented. Take care not to exceed 10 minutes.

(6) The seed ball is buried vertically in the planting matrix, and the matrix just covers the seed ball. After planting, it is covered with 1-2cm coarse sand and the soil is lightly pressed.

(7) Water once after planting.

(8) Within 25 days after planting, be sure to keep the greenhouse where tulip bulbs are planted completely dark. This requires that, at least in the daytime, growers completely cover the greenhouse or shed with straw curtains or quilts or double-layer shading nets, and at night they can pull up the straw curtains or not. At the same time, ensure the greenhouse and the outside ventilation. During these 25 days, watering is not allowed unless the substrate is very dry and requires a small amount of local water. The temperature of greenhouse must be controlled in the range of 8-15 ℃ in this time. During the rooting period, there is no need to heat the greenhouse or greenhouse.

(9) After 25 days, pull up the straw curtain or remove the double-layer shade net during the day, the plants will start to see the light, and put down the straw curtain at night to maintain the greenhouse temperature. Temperature: keep the temperature above 15 ℃ during the day and night until flowering. At this stage, most parts of China have entered the cold winter. In order to reach this temperature, growers need to heat up, especially at night. If coal is used for heating, do not let soot or gas enter the greenhouse. Otherwise, all tulips in the greenhouse may die.

Notes for tulip planting (1) in the rooting period (within the first 25 days), although the whole greenhouse is covered with cotton quilt or straw curtain or double-layer shade net, the air temperature may still be too high, even more than 20 ℃, especially in East China, Southwest China and central China. This will lead to poor rooting of plants, serious blind flower phenomenon in the later stage, or short growth of plants.

(2) After rooting, there are no heating facilities in many areas, and the greenhouse air temperature may be lower than 15 ℃ or even lower than 10 ℃ at night, which will cause the plants to fail to bloom on time and delay the flowering period.
