The fluffy jade Weng has a circle of red flowers on his head in spring

The "yuweng" of cactus family is very unique. It is easy to recognize it in a cluster of plants. It is covered with white fluff. When flowering, many small flowers will appear on the top of the sphere, which is still very amazing. However, some people like this dense plant and others hate it! But we can see more!

1、 Yuweng introduction

It is a perennial fleshy herb with solitary plants, spherical to oval, and bright green color. Cactus family, mastoidea, native to Mexico.

(native yuweng)

Its ball body is covered with white soft thorns. In spring, small peach flowers form a circle around the ball, which is very unique. Like plenty of sunshine, drought resistance, watering after drying, and avoid watering the ball.

2、 Daily maintenance

1. Illumination

It likes the environment with sufficient light. Under sufficient light, the sphere becomes more and more red and pleasant. It needs appropriate shade when it is hot in summer.

2. Basin soil selection

To raise this cactus plant, of course, we should choose fertile sandy loam with good drainage. If the basin soil is too wet, the light is too weak and the temperature is too high, it is not conducive to its growth. The basin soil should be sand, loam, peat moss and fine gravel in the ratio of 2:1:1:1.

3. Temperature

The suitable temperature for normal growth is 24 ~ 26 ℃. In winter, it is generally necessary to enter the house for winter. As long as the indoor temperature can be maintained at 5 ~ 6 ℃, it can survive the winter safely.

When the indoor temperature is close to 0 ℃, it should also be cold. In addition to controlling watering, it must be placed in the sunny window during the day and keep warm at night.

4. Watering and fertilization

Do not water too much during the growth period. It is necessary to completely dry the sand and soil. Water once every 3 to 4 weeks on average. The watering can not touch the sphere, but its growth is also affected by long-term water shortage or insufficient water supply.

Like light fertilizer, can be applied once a half a year to release thin fertilizer.

2、 Introduction to reproduction

1. Sowing

Sowing and breeding are carried out from April to June, and the suitable temperature for germination is 15 ~ 25 ℃. Germination can be carried out 7 days after sowing. After a long period of time, the seedlings are loaded separately, and several seedlings are planted in one pot.

Watering should be appropriate and the soil should not be too dry. When burrs grow on the top of seedlings, they can be divided into potted plants, one pot and one seedling. Split planting is best carried out in spring. The overwintering temperature of seedlings was above 10 ℃.

2. Cuttings

Outdoor cutting should be from April to October. Cutting cannot be carried out in summer when it is hot and rainy. But it can be cut all year round in the greenhouse. The cutting substrate was river sand and a small amount of saw. Use plump and full seed balls as cuttings. If the seed balls are too young, they are easy to rot.

The cutting surface of cuttings shall be smooth. After the cutting surface is coated with charcoal powder or sulfur powder, it shall be placed in a cool place and dried for 2 ~ 3 days. Cutting can be carried out after the juice is dry and the cutting surface shrinks. Do not insert it too deeply, and the incision should be slightly buried. After planting, put it in the shade and spray water to keep the soil moist. It can take root and survive in about 40 days.

3. Grafting

The rootstock is grafted with cactus or ruler, and the scion is grafted with sub ball by flat grafting method. After grafting, do not water, place in the shade. See relevant parts of Jinhu for grafting methods.
