If it is arranged in gardens and large-scale venues, it can achieve a solemn effect. Its stem contains starch, which is edible; Seed oil and rich starch, slightly toxic, for food and medicine, has the effect of dysentery, cough and hemostasis.
Often many families raise cycas, because of the winter frost damage and all the leaves dry "suspended animation" phenomenon. So how to wake up Cycas in the state of "suspended animation"? Here is the problem of management technology.
In fact, this state is only temporary, as long as the careful care, Cycas will still "wake up". The specific methods are as follows:
If it is found that all the leaves of Cycas are dry and white, stop watering and fertilizing immediately, and move them to the sunny leeward place with sufficient sunshine for careful inspection;
The first step: from the base of the stem ball, trim off all the withered feather leaves, and then gently press the top part with gloves or cloth fingers to check whether there is any rotten and soft phenomenon (the top part of the cycads ball has a highly toxic liquid called pyrite), and then peel off part of the root to check whether the fibrous root has rotten and musty smell. If there is no rot, softening and mildew in the bulb and root, it means that its vitality is still alive and can be recovered.
Step 2: plant Cycads in a pot and put them in a leeward and sunny place. After five to seven days of sun drying, water them once. After that, keep the humidity of the pot soil about 60%. Wait patiently. They can sprout in June to July.
Step 3: if it is found that the top and root of Cycas corms are rotten and softened, take the corms out of the pot and dry them for two days. Then cut off the rotten parts and cut the germinating corms into two or four pieces. After drying, bury them in the sterilized and screened sand soil and keep 60% humidity until they germinate (some can germinate in the second year), After germination, it can be planted separately in spring.
