Samsung's South Korea headquarters searched by police in connection with the theft of OLED Technolog

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has investigated Samsung's headquarters in asan, South Korea, in an attempt to find documents related to OLED (organic light emitting diode) technology, according to a report by Bloomberg yesterday. A Samsung spokesman told Reuters that police were trying to determine whether Samsung was involved in the leakage of OLED technology from LG partners. Details of who reported the case to the police were not disclosed, but LG said it had not contacted the police.

"The latest investigation is related to the technology of large OLED TV panel, but the allegation is made by the police themselves," a LG spokesman told Reuters. Samsung denied involvement in the case. A spokesman for the company said: 'we have no reason to steal other companies' technology because we have the best OLED technology in the world. '

Samsung and LG are both the world's leading OLED display manufacturers, and there have been conflicts between them. Last year, 11 current and former employees of Samsung mobile were arrested and charged with stealing and divulging details of Samsung AMOLED TV to LG; in 2010 and 2011, LG employees were charged with being involved in stealing Samsung OLED technology. In September last year, LG launched a lawsuit against Samsung over OLED technology; in November last year, Samsung filed a counterclaim. But the two companies shook hands in February and promised to settle out of court.

Samsung and LG have yet to comment.
