Why are more and more children finding asthma in hospital now? Asthma is the most common respiratory disease that seriously affects children's physical and mental health. In recent years, the morbidity and mortality of childhood asthma have been increasing, and the actual incidence rate is more than 5%. This figure means that there are at least 30 million children with asthma in China.
Shanghai is the city with the highest prevalence of asthma in China. In the summer of 2006, Shanghai Zhabei District CDC, under the unified deployment of the city's centers for Disease Control and prevention, carried out an investigation on children's health and home environment for school-age children in this district, in order to understand which risk factors affect the incidence of asthma in children's home environment.
Finally, it was found that among the 10 risk factors mentioned above, only 'frequency of air conditioning use at home' was significantly different between the asthmatic group and the normal group - the frequency of air conditioning use in the children's group was much higher than that in the normal group.
In the case of having to use air conditioning, the following points should be paid special attention to by asthmatic children's families:
1. Reduce the continuous use of air conditioning time as much as possible, open more doors and windows for ventilation.
2. During the operation of the air conditioner, the window should be left with a gap of 3-4cm to ensure the inflow of fresh air. Strengthen ventilation with fan.
3. There shall be no ponding in the condensate drain pipe of the air conditioner to ensure the smooth discharge of the condensate drain pipe.
4. Paying attention to the disinfection of household air-conditioners, keeping the living environment clean and tidy, preventing microbes, dust mites and cockroaches from breeding, reducing children's contact with allergens, and further preventing and controlling children's asthma.
