Old people often listen to music can effectively prevent Alzheimer's disease

The elderly often listen to music can effectively prevent Alzheimer's disease. Japanese scientists have found that listening to or singing their favorite songs may help prevent Alzheimer's disease caused by decreased sex hormones.

Elderly people from a welfare center participated in the small-scale study. The researchers specially organized some music activities for the elderly, in which they can sing their favorite songs, listen to the live performance of these songs, and accompany their body with their favorite music activities.

After the activity, the researchers measure the amount of androgen and estrogen in the saliva of the elderly. The results showed that the hormone content in elderly women gradually approached an average value after music activities. In subsequent psychological tests, the women's depression and anxiety also eased. The researchers came to the same conclusion in their statistics of older men.

Professor Fukui, who participated in the study, said that sex hormone is one of the drugs currently used to treat Alzheimer's disease, and music can adjust its level to an appropriate level. So the researchers believe that music can play a role in the prevention of Alzheimer's disease.
